Spitronics is a design and manufacturing company that is situated in South Africa. We specialize in designs of electronics and mechanical products since 1991. Our main product is After Market Engine Management Systems. Spitronics has a full time, in house Research and Development Team that consists of software-, hardware-, firmware- and research engineers. We constantly design new products and upgrade existing ones. This ensures the end user of the latest technology.

Spitronics makes use of surface mount technology and an Automated Machine Process for production manufacturing. This process results in more reliable quality products at reduced cost and smaller physical dimensions. This will ensure the end user of the best value for his money. Each product go through a Three Stage Quality Control Process before they are shipped to independent wholesalers.

Mercury2 - Engine Control Unit (ECU)

The MERCURY2 Control Unit is designed to be a cost effective replacement for high tech Engine Control Units (ECU) and Transmission Control Units (TCU). It uses unique and easy features which are easy to install and tune. It is designed with the novice and professional installer in mind.

This universal South African made product that can easily be customized for various engines or transmissions. It can be used for many applications such as racing engines, vehicle conversions, custom built vehicles, replacement parts for production vehicles etc. It is a compact reliable system which is epoxy filled to make it rugged and water tight for harsh environments and easy to mount in the driver's compartment.

The Mercury2 unit is designed to connect directly to most sensors and drive units that is found on engines and transmissions. No need to modify them. It consist of the latest in high speed micro controllers with surface mount technology. These units are machine soldered to minimize human error.

The Mercury2 cover features like Lambda control, idle control, launch control, fuel pressure control, cam control, line pressure control, tiptronic gear control, stepper motor control and lots more. It has 8 positive drivers that can be converted to 12 coil igniter drivers for V12 engines. It has 8 negative injector drivers that can do full sequential injection for V8 engines and semi-sequential for V12 engines. 4 Negative drivers for GP outputs, rpm output, relay and electronic relay outputs. These drivers are ranging from 3.5 Amp to 6 Amp.

There are 9 analogue input signals to measure water, air or oil temperature, throttle position, manifold pressure, lambda, fuel pressure, altitude etc. Then there are 4 trigger inputs to measure crank, cam & prop shaft angles.

The software is user-friendly and makes all the above features customizable by the tuner. This makes the Mercury2 adaptable for most engines and transmissions. Activations of features can be done over the internet making the unit viable to keep in stock and customize on demand.

This Mercury2 was designed to be universal and adaptable. Some firmware are customized to suit customers. New applications can easily be incorporated. Upgrades can be done over the internet.

PLUTO2

The PLUTO2 Control Unit is designed to be a low cost effective replacement for high tech Engine Control Units (ECU). It uses unique and easy features which are easy to install and tune. It is designed with the novice and professional installer in mind.

The Pluto2 unit is designed to connect directly to most sensors and drive units that is found on engines. No need to modify them. It consist of the latest in high speed micro controllers with surface mount technology. These units are machine soldered to minimize human error.

The Pluto2 cover features like Lambda control, idle control, launch control, cam control, stepper motor control and lots more. It has 6 negative 18 Amp 450 Volt drivers that can drive basic coils directly without the need of a coil igniter driver. These drivers are combined with injector drivers. There are 2 negative low voltage drivers for injectors or GP outputs. Then there is a RPM output & Relay output. This 4 drivers are 3.5 Amp each current protected.

The Neptune2 unit is designed to connect directly to most sensors and drive units that is found on transmissions. No need to modify them. It consist of the latest in high speed micro controllers with surface mount technology. These units are machine soldered to minimize human error.

The Neptune2 cover features like line pressure control, tiptronic gear control and shift safety limits. It has 7 positive 25 Amp 30 Volt drivers that can drive control solenoids directly. It has 2 negative GP outputs that is used for the 2 dashboard LED's. It has a relay output. These drivers are 3.5 Amp.

There are 3 analog input signals to measure throttle position, shifter position and map selection. Then there are 2 trigger inputs to measure RPM & prop-shaft speed.

SATURN

The SATURN Control Unit is designed to be a low cost durable effective replacement for high tech Engine Control Units (ECU). It uses unique and easy features which are easy to install and tune. It is designed with the novice and professional installer in mind.

The Saturn unit is designed to connect directly to most sensors and drive units that is found on engines. No need to modify them. It consist of the latest in high speed micro controllers with surface mount technology. These units are machine soldered to minimize human error.

The Saturn cover features like Lambda control, idle control, launch control, cam control, stepper motor control and lots more. It has 6 negative 18 Amp 500 Volt drivers that can drive basic coils directly without the need of a coil igniter driver. These drivers are combined with injector drivers. MERCURY COIL DRIVER

The MERCURY Coil Driver is designed for coils without electronic drivers built into them. It is only recently that new generation engines have built in coil drivers. Some cars today still requires external drivers to determine and control the charge current for the coils. New generation coils also bolt onto the plug eliminating the need for high tension leads. Most manufacturers prefer to minimize electrical interference.

The Mercury ECU can drive coils with built in drivers directly but you have to use the external Mercury coil driver for basic coils. This driver comes in 2x2, 4x4 and 6x6 driver configuration. This means each driver has a trigger signal. If you have for example a 4 cylinder with 4 coils you require the 4x4 driver. The mercury may be configured for wasted spark or single coil. If it is wasted spark then 2 of the trigger pairs will be connected together. That means there are 2 trigger signals from the mercury and they will got to 2 trigger wires in the coil driver. This will split 2 triggers to 4 coil drivers. See the wiring diagrams on these connections.

The Mercury coil driver use a specialized component that can drive the primary up to 360 Volts creating a 36 Kilo Volt output on most coils. The driver is current limited to 10 Amp and has a soft discharge feature should the ECU not trigger it within a certain time. It has over temperature protection that will prevent overheating of the driver in long charge time duty cycles.

The driver requires a positive signal to charge and a negative transition to fire the coil.

COMBO ELECTRONIC RELAY AND COIL DRIVER

The Combo Driver has a single coil driver and an electronic relay build into the same unit. This save money and space. It is intended for smaller engines with distributers. The relay is a solid state relay and does not have contacts that can burn or corrode.

The Coil Driver is designed for coils without electronic drivers built into them. It is only recently that new generation engines have built in coil drivers. Some cars today still requires external drivers to determine and control the charge current for the coils. New generation coils also bolt onto the plug eliminating the need for high tension leads. Most manufacturers prefer to minimize electrical interference.

The Mercury ECU can drive coils with built in drivers directly but if you have to use the external Mercury coil driver for basic coils. This driver com in single channel driver configuration for engines with distributors. See the wiring diagrams on these connections.

The Single coil driver use a specialized component that can drive the primary up to 360 Volts creating a 36 Kilo Volt output on most coils. The driver is current limited to 10 Amp and has a soft discharge feature should the ECU not trigger it within a certain time. It has over temperature protection that will prevent overheating of the driver in long charge time duty cycles.

The driver requires a positive signal to charge and a negative transition to fire the coil.

The Electronic Relay is designed to eliminate mechanical parts and contacts found in relays. It is more durable and has current limit protection of 45 Amp. This relay will be switched on or off by the ECU and let battery power through to coils, injectors, fuel pump etc.
